02 LARGE PARTICLE CLUSTER

Move the mouse to effect the particles with repulsive gravity. Click and hold the mouse to effect the particles with elastic attraction. If the mouse is still, it will have no effect. This experiment explores the use of different blend modes in a large particle system. The particle engine itself is relatively simple, but the blending modes are randomized, and the resulting overlapping motion I find quite pleasing.

For a bit of fun, try clicking and holding the mouse until all the particles have settle around the pointer. Then release and move the mouse. The resulting repulsive gravitational force concentrated at the center of mass of all the particles is 10,000 times the mass of a single particle, resulting in one very energetic explosion.
